End of Year letter 2013
It is Shirley Rd Chiropractic’s 16th Christmas and it has become a longstanding tradition for me to write an end of year letter. It is an opportune time to let our old and new patients know what has been happening over the year and what is in store for the year ahead.

For 2013 we welcomed our newest chiropractic associate, Christopher Lewis. His warm and friendly personality helped him quickly settle in and everyone began to enjoy his Scottish accent. Christopher moved from Scotland six years ago and brings with him a few other worldly talents – from speaking French, to his love of music and playing guitar and clarinet. He is also an avid English cricket supporter so Ashleigh and I have been having a lot of fun during this Australian Ashes Series. Let’s just hope it continues.
Ashleigh has now been involved with Shirley Rd for seven years, the most recent three years as a Chiropractor. Ash has become an extremely valued member of our group and she has a very loyal following of patients who find her excellent knowledge base and skills, coupled with her relaxed demeanour, very comforting.
Christopher Jolliffe has over the past five years worked on a Saturday morning with us at Norwest, but as of next year he will be unable to continue, as his responsibilities at the University have increased. We will be keeping in touch, as he has become a great friend to all of us at the practice. He will be helping Chiropractic students with all the knowledge and skills they require to make their transition from student to graduate.
We were all very sad to see Jana leave for London early this year, but Robbie, her husband was offered a good work position for an Architectural Software company. They thought it was time to move closer to family with Olivia soon turning three. They have bought a new home in Middlesex and are settling in.
I personally have had a busy four years. Having taught Neurological diagnosis at University level for over 14 years I decided to formally study “Chiropractic Functional Neurology” further from the Carrick Institute in the USA. Over a year ago I sat the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (ACNB) examinations, and was among only a small number selected to be a Diplomate of the ACNB. This year we were lucky enough to host Prof. Ted Carrick himself at Shirley Rd Chiropractic as he assessed and offered advice for a 4-year old Queensland boy suffering from fits and low-level brain damage. In addition, I have been elected as a director of the Australasian Academy of Functional Neurology (AAFN). This all helps place Shirley Rd Chiropractic at the forefront in the understanding of the cutting edge in Chiropractic assessment and treatment strategies.
You may be aware that Michelle, Rachel and Margaret job share the responsibility of front desk management at both Crows Nest and Norwest. From earlier this year Michelle has had to spend much of her time in Perth looking after her elderly mother and aunt. Sadly her aunty, who played a great part in Michelle’s upbringing passed away just a few months ago. We look forward to Michelle being back at Shirley Rd when she feels ready to return.
Looking ahead Ashleigh, Chris and I will take care of your Chiropractic needs this coming year and into the future. We also have Hasna Gittany who continues to offer Holistic Kinesiology sessions at both our Crows Nest and Norwest offices.
Over the Festive season we hope you enjoy the time the way you choose, and with those you care about. Take the opportunity to relax a little and unwind. As with years gone by, Shirley Rd will be available some limited hours during the Christmas and New Year period, should you need us. Details of our clinic hours will be available on our website at shirleyrdchiro.com.au or check our answering machines.
Yours sincerely
Brent Gordon
